Chilliwack Restorative Justice and Youth Advocacy Association (CRJYAA) has partnered with Studio B Yoga & More Inc. to offer this FREE youth program for youths of all genders currently enrolled in grades 8 – 10 (for the 2018/2019 school year). In this program we will focus on our combined values; Balance, Community, Honesty, Integrity, Lifestyle and Learning. Be Chill is a FREE youth program that incorporates the foundations and values of Yoga and Restorative Justice with everyday life skills. Full of educational workshops and fun activities that are designed to engage, empower, and connect Chilliwack youth with each other and within their community. This session is 8 weeks in length and will run at Studio B Yoga the following Monday’s from 3:30pm to 5:00pm: September 24 October 1, 15, 22, 29 November 5, 19, 26. The Chilliwack Youth Health Centre and the YMCA are pleased to introduce the Y Mind Mindfulness Group. This free group is for people aged 18-30 who experience anxiety. The group shares mindfulness and stress-management techniques that can help us deal with anxiety and live our best lives. Interested? Back with a new location, UFV is set to host annual neighbourhood health and wellness fair at Vineyard Community Centre in the heart of downtown Chilliwack. The fair will run from 1 pm–4 pm on Monday, Nov 19 at 45892 Wellington Ave. Free for everyone, the fair will gather the Chilliwack community for an opportunity learn about health and wellness resources from UFV students. Students from nursing, library and information technology, kinesiology and dental, along with participating community partners will offer visitors health and wellness information, tools, and a chance to take home some great prizes. “This is a free, family-friendly event that gives our health sciences students the opportunity to practice community outreach while providing members of the public with important health information,” says Hannah MacDonald, UFV School of Health Studies director. This year students and faculty from UFV's nursing program will deliver a free flu shot clinic for adults, as well as Naloxone kits. Everyone is welcome. Drop in any time between 1 pm and 4 pm. Several community partners have teamed up with UFV for this event.
