The Safer School Travel program has been in operation at Yarrow Elementary School since 2005. Developed by Safer City, the program identifies school road safety related issues, strives to define priorities and create realistic solutions for addressing issues relevant to the school.

Speeding on Yarrow Central Road was identified by the Yarrow Elementary PAC as a primary issue. The Chilliwack RCMP and Speed Watch volunteers monitored driver behavior on Yarrow Central Road as part of the Safer School Travel program and to help motorists be aware of their driving behaviour in school zones.
